Hospital and Healthcare Facilities

Health services


     Lohardaga has a district Hospital, 1 Referral Hospitals, 5 primary Health Sub-Centers, 10 additional primary health center, 73 health sub-center. Civil Surgeon, Lohardaga is the head of health services at the district level. One additional chief Medical Officer is also posted to assist the Civil surgeon in health related activities.

WOMEN AND CHILD WELFARE

     Integrated child development programme is sponsored by World Bank. All the Blocks of Lohardaga district is covered under this scheme. Children 0-6 years age & pregnant /lactating mothers, who are the members of the schemes and below the poverty line are being benefited by this scheme. In the scheme 65 gms of CSB & 18 gms of S.S. oil per beneficiary is being distributed among the beneficiaries. Double ration is being distributed to pregnant/lactating mothers & malnourished children. Besides this pre school, education is being given to the children who are of 3 – 6 yrs of age & nutritious food is being served to them in the Anganbari center by the Sevika / Sahaika. Mid Day Meals Programme started in all govt. & govt. added school and EGS.

Healthcare facilities:

     There is one district hospital, five community health centres, ten primary health centres, and around fifty sub-centres. There are five ISM&H facilities.
Anganwadi centre (AWC) and Sub-centre are supposed to be located within a cluster of habitation, one each for a population of 3-5,000. Whilst there is an AWC within 600 metres of a village, the mean distance of a sub-centre is 1.32 kilometres. A pharmacy is located 3.38 kilometres away. A primary health centre is 4.07 and a Community health centre 7.61 kilometres away, respectively.

Other basic amenities:

     The mean distances of basic amenities such as Panchayat Bhavan, Post office, Grocery, PDS, STD booth, bank, bus stand, etc.

     The distance of a source of water for the sample household is 760 metres, and water scarcity is a major issue. The mean distance of bank is 4.67 kms, bus-stand 5.65 Kms, Panchayat Office 1.42 kms, post office 1.58 kms, grocery store 1.08 kms, PDS (ration shop) 2,53 kms, and STD/PCO 4.05 kms. Thus government provided services are located from 2.53 kms (PDS) to 4.65 kms (bus stand) away, with the exception of a post office.
