Fishery Development:
There are 175 government tanks exist in this district. Last year, 107
tanks auctioned for fisheries for around Rs. 50,000/-. The auction is
made by the District Fisheries Officer-cum-Chief executive Officer,
Lohardaga and the auction money goes to the Jharkhand government. But
around 90% of the district fish consumption is met by the supply from
outside (mostly from Andhra Pradesh). The less fish production in this
district is because of the following reasons:
-
The depth of many of the tanks is less than 6 ft whereas the technical
requirement of the fish pond for this area is 10 ft.
-
The soil of the area is acidic which restricts the growth of the
fishes.
-
Skill and knowledge level of the villagers who are into the fisheries
is very low.
-
Best quality of seed is not available in the area.
There are various schemes undergoing in the district for construction
and renovation of ponds. It is proposed to establish a hatchery in the
district and developing fishery in collaboration with An NGO, Lohardaga
Gram Swaraj Sansthan, Lohardaga.
Objective:
It is proposed to increase the fish production in the district by
Establishing a hatchery in this district for supply of good quality of
seed.
Constructing new fram ponds in collaboration with Lohardaga Gram Swaraj
Sansthan, Lohardaga for fishery.
Giving preference to the already organised self help
groups, and training the person selected the group for bringing
continuity in skill development.
Mode of Implementation:
The Hatchery will be built at Nadiya
village of Lohardaga district. The construction and management will be
done by the department of fisheries. In case of farm pond the
implementing agency will be Lohardaga Gram Swaraj Sansthan.
The detailed estimate of farm pond construction is as below:
